We are seeking a talented individual with strong research skills to join our Efficacy and Implementation Research team as an Associate Research Scientist.

In this role you will focus on data manipulation and management, analysis of complex datasets, and documentation and presentation of research findings related to maximizing the success of all students, including students who are unprepared for the grade in which they find themselves and students who are likely to receive a lower quality education. This position is largely quantitative and will require functional skills in SAS and/or R with data management and analysis, particularly of large and complex datasets.

Impact you’ll have:

  • You’ll be partnered with a dynamic team to design studies that answer actionable research questions about numerous educational interventions, products, and services
  • You’ll draft documentation for internal and external audiences, including process documentation, analysis specifications, and reporting of results
  • You will have opportunities to present research findings to diverse audiences, including staff meetings, meetings with external clients, and professional conferences
  • You’ll contribute to quality control processes to ensure the accuracy of data, analyses, and findings of research project

Who we’re looking for:

  • ABD or PhD in Educational Research domain; 0-3 years post PhD work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of research principles and research design in K-12 education programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in collecting data from the field using a variety of methodologies and data collection techniques such as structured interviews, observations, and survey research
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with matching, hierarchical modeling, clustering or other data reduction techniques, and other complex statistical methods.
  • Experience with a research-oriented programming language (preferably SAS or R) for manipulating data and conducting basic statistical analyses.
  • Experience using SQL for querying from large, complex databases is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

We’d also love to see, though not required:

  • Demonstrated experience in digital learning, reading, and/or mathematics at the K-8 level
  • Knowledge of educational measurement principles, including familiarity with psychometric concepts such as measurement error, validity, and reliability estimation and IRT

Location: This is a remote position which will work collaboratively with a team of other researchers, most of whom are also working remotely.

Travel expectations: Less than 10% of total time. Once safe to do so, travel for this position will likely include one semi-annual team meeting, one semi-annual technical advisory committee meeting, and travel to national conferences when proposals have been accepted.
