Tackle is seeking a second Director of Engineering to help scale our engineering organization. This is a “manager of managers” role where you will start with two pods of engineers and build out a third. You will work closely with Engineering Leadership, Product Management, and Customer Journey to build a world-class SaaS solution.

You Will:

    • Grow your group from 8 to 15 over the year
    • Mentorship and career development of Tech Lead Managers
    • Work with Tech Lead Managers to develop the careers of engineers on their pods
    • Create & evolve engineering’s agile processes
    • Help define engineering’s Objectives and Key Results
    • Approve architectural decisions
    • Dig into databases, logs, and code for scoping projects & troubleshooting critical bugs
    • Ensure morale is kept high on Engineering
    • Oversee a backlog of incoming bug reports from Support
    • Meet with Customer Journey & Support to inform hardening efforts

You Have:

    • At least 7 years of experience in various stages of the software development life cycle
    • At least 3 years of experience in management
    • You’re still “close to the code”
    • Recent experience in full-stack web development
    • You’re smart, no doubt about it – but your EQ is off the charts as well
    • Motivation, Empathy, Desire, and Ability to Succeed are present in equal measures
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
