Truss is tackling tough technical problems for the private sector and government. We use modern development practices to build software, streamline infrastructure, and train others through exposure to our teams.

As Federal Government Business Development Lead, you will work with the Sales Team to design and implement a strategy to secure the right projects with the right Federal clients while demonstrating our core values. The result is contracts that we can knock out of the park, bringing real improvement to the government’s digital services, and advancing Truss’s strategic plan. Accomplishing this will require a variety of skills from networking with partners to surveying the current federal landscape, and a detail-oriented approach to evaluation and operational processes.

In this position you will:
Create and lead federal win strategies that build relationships and opportunities.
Conduct outreach and networking that generates new leads.
Refine and manage our leads process (monitor, qualify, and send fully qualified opportunities through the proposal process) across different contract award vehicles.
Manage and cultivate relationships with federal agencies and industry partners (e.g. Code for America, Digital Services Coalition) to advance Truss’s business goals.
Conduct capture management by vetting opportunities that you’ve found, as well as those that are posted. Take the lead on qualified opportunities and maintain deal momentum with the goal of getting to award.
Collaborate with sales and legal on the proposal process. Recommend and coordinate with potential teaming partners, sales and legal for bids.
Research and share competitive intelligence and market analysis.
Monitor and analyze opportunities across different contract award vehicles as needed.
Here’s what we hope you’ll bring:
7+ years cumulative experience executing winning award strategies, either within the federal government or as part of a federal government contractor.
Strong understanding of federal government contracting vehicles and structures (IDIQ, BPA, 8a, STARS-III, COMET, etc).
Tech background with an understanding of modern, agile software development.
You care about winning the right projects, not every project.
Great communication, including thoughtful listening skills, the ability to express complex ideas clearly and succinctly, and the ability to communicate well in writing.
A willingness to seek differing opinions, ask for help, and take on challenges outside your expertise.
Initiative with a bias for action.
Effective time and project management skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments, work collaboratively with others, and adjust schedules based on changing requirements.
A joyous approach towards networking.
The salary range for this position is $150,000 – $170,000 per year.
