BenchSci is growing its Talent Engagement team! Reporting to the Director, Talent Engagement, the Lead Talent Business Partner will provide mentorship to a growing team of BPs as well as work-hands on with your own client group.

The Talent Engagement team falls within the People department and oversees Business Partnering, Talent Experience, and Total Rewards & Compensation. As a team, we’re committed to ensuring the right talent is in the right role at the right time, while offering a motivating, competitive employee experience. As the newest member of this team, you will oversee 2 direct reports, scale the function, and continue to increase trust and buy-in with the senior leaders in the organization.

This role will be “build-heavy” – the ideal candidate will forge strong relationships with leaders and work with them in a hands-on capacity to set our organization up for success beyond success, and enable our employees to do the best work of their lives.

You Will:

    • Identify barriers to success and drive proactive solutions that support building an environment by providing hands-on guidance mentorship to 2 Talent Business Partners and overseeing your own client group
    • Unlock your team’s potential to distribute and demonstrate its value across the organization, driving a clear need for expansion in order to provide BP support at scale
    • Lead by example while embodying our SHOW-UP manifesto and living our Freedom & Responsibility framework
    • Establish yourself as a senior, highly trusted resource among the highest levels of the organization to effectively build buy-in for your team
    • Spearhead initiatives to improve the engagement and accelerate the impact of BenchSciers
    • Partner with other teams (e.g. Experience, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Employer Brand, Learning & Development) to create maximum impact within your own team
    • Partner with the Director, Talent Engagement and the CPO to align on organizational change or top-of-mind initiatives and guide BP team accordingly
    • Track/measure the success of the BP team and be able to demonstrate the team’s impact on broader groups
    • Establish the team as a centre of excellence; the gold standard for creative, strategic, people-focused support
    • Operate as the first point of contact for the full spectrum of HR services
    • Coach leaders on talent management (talent reviews, performance evaluations, and succession planning), creating an environment in which motivated employees can thrive
    • Be a thought partner when it comes to change management, organizational design,
    • Be an authority and subject matter expert in all things relating to the employee lifecycle or employee relations
    • Develop policies and streamline processes to improve our scaleability
    • Consult on People Team-led initiatives (e.g. career pathing, leadership development, coaching function)
    • Adapt and deploy remote-first people programs to the Platform team in a fair and consistent manner
    • Promote, educate and support training on our diversity and belonging initiatives
    • Recommend creative solutions to complex situations that you might not have encountered before – even if they go against the grain

You Have:

    • A people-first mentality
    • 5+ years of experience in an HRBP/People Business Partner function (experience in the tech space, specifically in start-up/hyper-growth environments preferable)
    • Experience leading a team of HRBPs
    • Strong mentorship skills (a love for guiding, teaching, and empowering others)
    • The ability to forge strong relationships built on trust
    • Experience working with cross-functional, executive-level stakeholders
    • Ability to facilitate, coach, and create a space where discerning (and sometimes conflicting) opinions and priorities can come together holistically
    • Comfort with public speaking, presenting
