THE OPPORTUNITY:

At Salesloft, our Sales Engineers are pivotal to our company’s success.  We are looking for a Manager, Sales Engineering who brings a unique skill set to our organization, combining technical expertise with an innate ability to build trust with both technical and non-technical audiences. In addition to leadership responsibilities, this manager will be responsible for managing a Sales Engineering team and partnering with Regional Vice Presidents and Account Executives to help drive new business.

This role combines consultative selling, technical solution mapping, client-facing relationship building, and leadership of Sales Engineers in individual contributor roles.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

The Manager, Sales Engineering must be creative and innovative in sales situations and come up with multiple solutions to the same problem. Candidates must have exceptional communications skills (both verbal and written), ability to deliver presentations, self-starter, previous leadership experience and have SaaS software pre-sales experience.

On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure that the sales engineering team is equipped to support typical SE responsibilities (customer meetings, delivering demonstrations & proof-of-concepts, leading workshops/assessments, driving & gathering customer requirements, responses to RFPs, etc)
  • As needed, support responsibilities such as staffing, recruiting, team meetings/calls, and compensation planning
  • Support the performance management process with the sales engineering team; including activities such as goal planning, professional development, and annual reviews.
  • Ultimately responsible for team motivation, retention, career planning
  • As needed, act as a customer facing resource who is capable of personally getting involved in sales campaigns (Player / Coach role)
  • Collaborating with sales teams in full-cycle sales of Salesloft products
  • Drive productivity initiatives
  • Effectively interface with multiple internal resources, including Sales Executives, Implementation Managers, Customer Success, Customer Support, Product Management and Engineering

THE TEAM:

The Salesloft Sales Engineering  team is comprised of seasoned and up-and-coming professionals who are all aligned on one mission: to redefine the Sales Engagement space and activate the authentic seller in all of us.

The Sales Engineer team consists of ‘sales nerds’ who pursue technical depth in Salesloft and Salesforce as well as mastery of consultative selling and relationship building  They are also the epitome of our core values – Customers First. Team Over Self. Focus on Results. Bias Towards Action. Glass Half Full.

THE SKILL SET:

  • 5+ years of B2B experience in pre-sales, sales, or customer success focused on Enterprise business
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • 5+ years experience with Salesforce / Microsoft Dynamics and multiple Salesforce certifications (Admin, Advanced Admin, etc.)
  • Experience with the Salesloft platform
  • 5+ years experience executing detailed product presentations to decision makers and users both onsite and online
  • Experience selling to the C-Suite
  • 5+ years knowledge of B2B sales strategy (organizational structure, processes, compensation, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel approximately 1 week per month
  • Previous management experience preferred

WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOU’LL:

  • Attend Salesloft’s New Hire Orientation, where you will learn our Salesloft story and understand what makes our “Lofters” unique
  • Join our 3-week Sales Bootcamp, where you will learn our software and all the skills necessary to set you up for success, allowing you to make an impact in the market quickly
  • Begin 1:1’s with your manager, understand your 30-60-90 plan, meet & shadow current members of the Salesloft team
  • Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them
  • Meet key partners in Sales, Marketing, and Product – they will be key relationships for you throughout your deal cycle
  • Begin 1:1’s with your team

WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Partner with our sales executives to engage key prospects
  • Conduct growth & development conversations with your team
  • Consistently achieve your activity goals

WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Consistently meet or exceed your goals
  • Complete your Lessonly training to ensure you are up-to-date on best practices, new releases, and more
  • Continue to focus on your OKRs

WITHIN TWELVE MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Be considered a top-performing Sales Engineering Manager on the team by consistently exceeding your goals
  • Set an example for new Sales Engineers, and assist in training, onboarding and motivating new Lofters
