The deal pairs Gainsight’s leadership in Customer Success with the power of community-led growth, through inSided’s unique capabilities that drive product engagement and adoption, increase retention and build lasting customer relationships. inSided’s platform is currently used by hundreds of companies including Gainsight, Gong.io, ProductBoard, Sprout Social, Guru, and Zapier.

inSided (by Gainsight) is based in Amsterdam with offices in Manhattan, New York City. On both sides of the pond, we have a motivated and entrepreneurial team, who love to brainstorm on new ideas together, and regularly celebrate our continued success (ask about our champagne waterfalls 🍾). We currently have around 80 employees and are growing rapidly.

Why are we hiring?

We want to strengthen our engineering department by bringing in proven leaders and experienced engineers, to help us reach the next level both for our product and for our organization.

We’re looking for seasoned veterans that can guide and mentor other engineers of all seniority levels, and that can take the lead in strategic engineering projects in our department.

What’s the role about?

We’re looking for passionate and business-oriented engineers; code lovers who are wise enough to know when coding is not the solution. Our Principal Engineers are great builders and even greater leaders and communicators. We’re not looking for individualistic “ninjas” but rather solid and reliable team players.

We give our teams freedom over the software they build and to choose the right solution for the job. In return, we expect you to agree with the mindset “you built it, you run it” and we expect that you don’t reinvent the wheel.

We are in the process of migrating our monolithic application towards a microservices architecture. Hence, you should expect to deal with legacy code as well as build new microservices.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, test, and monitor valuable solutions that achieve the prioritized outcome
  • Ensure that the risks/limitations of chosen solutions are communicated to the relevant stakeholders
  • Write and maintain quality code
  • Contribute to and champion the high-level technical strategy
  • Help to ensure that decisions taken by engineers are in line with the technical strategy
  • Help other engineers grow by coaching, mentoring, and/or teaching
  • Identify knowledge gaps and ensure that these get the needed attention
  • Own and lead engineering strategic initiatives in your team and across the department
  • Be a strong voice for engineering in the company

About you

We value diversity in its many forms, so we favour a discussion about what you can bring, over setting hard requirements.

As a guide, these are some skills, experience and traits that we will look for:

  • Have at least 7 years of experience as a software engineer
    • Nice to have: experience working in a SaaS company
  • Strong with PHP and MySQL backend experience.
    • Nice to have: experience with Python, DynamoDB, AWS, Docker, Javascript, Elasticsearch
    • Bonus points for full-stack professional experience
  • Be champion of DRY and SOLID principles
  • Be familiar with the Reactive Manifesto principles
  • Practice test-driven and behavior-driven development
  • Understanding techniques from DDD
    • Nice to have: Experience with strategic and tactical design
  • Look beyond PHP and you are excited about other languages and frameworks
  • Find technology very cool, but know when coding isn’t the answer to a problem
  • Feel responsible for the end product and not only focus on your own field
  • Be eager to learn and are always open to new developments
  • Proficient with English language in both spoken and written format
