Projects range from paper and markers for a poetry writing unit to violins for a school recital. More than 4 million “citizen philanthropists” have supported such projects, channeling books, field trips, technology, and other resources to more than 40 million students nationwide. About the Role

In this role, you’ll represent the voice of the more than 500,000 teachers and donors who visit our website each year – and use that voice to ensure that those customers have a positive experience with DonorsChoose. You’ll take information from varied sources and translate it into actionable changes and improvements.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Respond to internal Ops flags for help by becoming an expert on a staff or customer issue, acting as an internal go-to for your know-how and familiarity with “how things work.”
  • Own and manage the process for identifying, troubleshooting, and reporting bugs on behalf of Operations, as well as tracking the impact of these issues on Operations and our customers.
  • Create, maintain/manage, prioritize, and advocate for the Program Management team’s database of ongoing current and potential projects for enhancement to the customer experience.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency in cross-team processes. For example, with respect to our process for handling bugs, you’ll ensure this process is efficient, urgent issues are flagged as necessary, and affected parties are in the loop as needed.
  • Act as a point person for Operations in collaboration with Product and Engineering. This includes acting as the Ops representative to advise on solutions to bugs, participating (and at times leading) QA testing, and other tasks as needed.
  • Play a role in proactively improving the customer experience by helping to identify areas of opportunity, brainstorming potential solutions, and advocating for them.
  • Support reporting functions for Program, e.g. running reports about customer feedback and sharing them in key spaces that help improve our team’s ability to serve customers and improve their experience.

  • Curious about other teams’ work, and collaborating to complete mutually beneficial projects.
  • An exceptional communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Flexible to meet evolving needs and to take on new challenges with a sense of humor.
  • Creative, empathetic, and eager to grow and learn from mistakes.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this role is competitive with equivalent roles at other nonprofits of our size. In addition, we offer full-time staff 25 paid vacation days per year and 10 paid holidays, a rich employer-paid individual and family health plan, a matching 401(k) plan (up to 5% of base salary), annual professional development stipend, and casual and flexible work environment. Hybrid Workplace and Other Details

In this role, you’ll have the option to work a flexible hybrid schedule in our NYC office, or to work fully remotely from CA, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OR, PA, TX, or WI.
