We are looking for a Scientific Analyst, Bioinformatics to join our team. The primary function of this role is to contribute to the scientific accuracy of the BenchSci platform by curating and maintaining the underlying bioinformatics databases. You will report directly to the Bioinformatics Science Lead, and work closely with your colleagues in Science and across the organization with teams in R&D and Engineering, collaborating on projects that deliver real impact to the work of our scientific community, and ultimately life science research.

You Will:

    • Support the bioinformatic mapping of products to their gene/protein targets to improve the searchability of the products on the platform.
    • Assist in the development, update and maintenance of the BenchSci bioinformatics databases:
    • Assist in the maintenance of our current bioinformatics ontologies
    • Assist in the maintenance of existing reagent mapping pipelines
    • Assist in the development of new pipelines to improve the efficiency of existing methods
    • Assist with data analysis projects including customer-facing data analysis projects.
    • Support the evaluation and preparation of data for new projects as the need arises.
    • Brainstorm new bioinformatics features/tools/pipelines that directly impact the platform and user experience.

You Have:

    • A minimum of an MSc in bioinformatics, or relevant experience in the life science area
    • Sufficient knowledge and/or bench experience in experimental biology research techniques, including but not limited to:
    • Immunological methods (in vitro, cell-based and analytical)
    • Genetics (cloning, CRISPR, NGS, PCR)
    • Analytical Biology (pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, LC/MS, SPR)
    • In vivo studies (cell cultures, animal models)
    • Proficient in data processing and wrangling tools such as Python, SQL, and Excel.
    • Solid knowledge in using major biological resources such as Ensembl, UniProt, and Entrez.

Nice to Have:

    • Experience working with protein databases
    • Experience working with microbial classification and databases
