Overview

This position is designated as being part of OPEIU (Office Professional Employees International Union, Local 1010), the union that we voluntarily recognized in fall 2021. We are currently still in negotiations for our first CBA (collective bargaining agreement). Once that is signed, there will be union dues or fees associated with this position. The amount of the dues or fees will be set by the union, and we do not yet know what that amount will be.

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate fundraiser to join a fast-paced, mission-driven organization to help secure millions of dollars of philanthropic revenue. You’ll report to the Senior Director of Development and work with a strong Development team to accomplish ambitious goals.

In this position you will: 

  • Work with a talented team raising millions of dollars in order to help government work for the people who need it most.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, institutional and government funding prospects capable of making 6+ figure unrestricted gifts as well as gifts for special projects
  • Be responsible for securing an annual general operating support revenue goal
  • Write concept notes, proposals, reports, and other relevant fundraising materials
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of unrestricted funders, including a calendar of funder check-ins, touchpoints, and renewal strategy
  • Coordinate the entry of all data in Salesforce with the Development Operations team to ensure all contacts, accounts, opportunities, and other relevant data is accurate and up-to-date
  • In partnership with the Prospect Researcher, reach out to, engage, and cultivate new funding prospects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

About You:

  • 6+ years fundraising experience
  • Proven ability to meet revenue goals and targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, motivated, and driven with careful attention to detail
  • Exceptional project manager who’s capable of driving multiple work streams toward completion and on deadline
  • Self-starter who enjoys identifying and cultivating a set of funders from the ground up
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, and able to juggle competing priorities and last-minute deadlines
  • Highly relational and knows how to build trust with both internal and external stakeholders across an organization
  • Stellar team player with no ego or drama. You bring a positive, can-do attitude and a passion for the Code for America mission. You understand and model that the best way to meet and exceed goals is through outstanding teamwork
  • Comfortable and enjoy being in a matrixed, fast paced environment, navigating ambiguity, and working through competing priorities
  • Experience with Salesforce is desirable

We are happy to extend this transparency during the recruitment process. As a part of our equitable hiring practices, we aim to target the midpoint of the 2nd quartile of the range for all new hires. The targets for this role are dependent on the market/geographic location. The targets for this role range from $98,175 – $115,500.
