SEO Manager

Babylist is looking for a hands-on SEO manager to scale our organic search growth in content and ecommerce. The ideal candidate is immersed in SEO and adept at working with both editorial and technical teams. You’ll set strategy and oversee aggressive growth targets and report to the Director, Growth of Marketing with close collaboration with the Director, Editorial & Brand.

Who You Are

  • You’re an expert on best practices for site architecture, page optimization, keyword research and link building
  • You’re on top of everchanging SEO practices, technology, tools and industry trends
  • You’re skilled at the art and science of SEO. You understand the need for content that blends quality and best practices
  • You’re able to make recommendations that balance SEO goals, brand voice, business objectives and user experience

What You’ll Do 

  • You’ll lead SEO strategy for site content, ecommerce and tentpoles
  • You’ll monitor and report on overall SEO health and performance including but not limited to SERP ranking and traffic
  • You’ll own technical optimization, link building and site maps
  • You’ll collaborate with the content team to optimize for keywords, page optimization, internal and external backlinking and other SEO recommendations
  • You’ll train content, branded, merchandising and creative team members on SEO best practices and tools
  • You’ll review SEO content as needed to ensure content is meeting best practices
  • You’ll make recommendations for strategic updates to Babylist archive content on a quarterly and seasonal basis
  • You’ll perform ongoing competitive analysis

What You’ve Done

  • You’ve implemented SEO practices for sites with substantial organic search traffic
  • You have a proven track record for improving SERP rankings and increasing traffic
  • You’re a pro with web analytics and SEO tools, specifically Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Search Console and Google Analytics (or equivalent)
  • You stay ahead of trends and adapt to a constantly changing SEO landscape
  • You’re skilled at translating site data into actionable content and technical direction
  • You have excellent writing, editing and organizational skills
  • You’re a great collaborator with content, acquisition and technical teams
  • You have a solid understanding of basic HTML, CSS and code structure as it relates to SEO
  • You have experience with XML sitemaps, robots.txt and canonical tags
  • You have 2-5 years experience in digital publishing
