About the position
Wirecutter is looking for a Strategic Planning Lead to bolster the company’s ability to make effective and impact-oriented decisions. This is an individual contributor role that requires leading thoughtful discussions, guiding strategic prioritization, driving accountability, and improving cross-functional collaboration. The role reports to Wirecutter’s COO and is based in our New York City office.
You should have a demonstrated track record of success architecting strategic planning processes to support business growth and performance improvement. You’re comfortable collaborating across a variety of roles and functions, and can effectively influence without direct reporting lines. Lastly, you are passionate about Wirecutter’s mission and are keen to develop a deep understanding of our readers and business model.
You will work with Wirecutter’s leadership team to define company strategy and priorities, set goals, and ensure successful execution
You will oversee and execute comprehensive goal-setting processes twice annually for teams and cross-functional projects, in alignment with company goals
You will conduct monthly performance reviews to discuss progress and surface any emerging opportunities or challenges
You will support delivery against goals by tracking performance trends, providing actionable recommendations, and seeing through or supporting execution thereof
You will establish and improve processes to make cross-functional work more effective
You will work with internal partners to assess the competitive landscape and create compelling, data-informed business cases
5+ years of relevant experience, with a track record of supporting delivery against ambitious business goals
Highly skilled at facilitating productive meetings and driving thoughtful discussions with diverse stakeholder groups
Exceptional project management skills
Excellent EQ skills, with demonstrated ability to build trusting and strong collaborative relationships
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytical mindset with ability to analyze data and synthesize into actionable insights
Strategic planning experience in a digital media or fast-growing organization and familiarity with Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework strongly preferred
MBA or equivalent experience preferred
