Tackle is looking for an experienced people leader with a clearly demonstrated capability to operate in a small hyper growth company.  The ideal candidate is an energetic, strategy-focused team-builder with people leadership experiences; has cross functional experience in HR, Compensation, Benefits, career development and Recruiting; has built up a people team from scratch;  and been part of the journey from start-up to IPO, or at a minimum has experience with hyper growth in the range of 50-250 employees.
As our VP of People you will take a leading role on our People & Culture (“People Team”) and will report to the CEO and partner extensively with the executive leadership team demonstrating your experience counseling, coaching, acting as a strategic advisor, and leading/facilitating team development and growth.
This newly created role will design and build out the People organization and the work it focuses on from the ground up while being a “hands on” leader to develop the infrastructure needed in growth mode to support the Company as it scales.

During the first 12-18 months you will:

    • Evaluate and iterate on stage appropriate people processes, including Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
    • Own our people brand and facilitate our talent acquisition system
    • Help iterate on our benefits and compensation system as we scale
    • Build a team and partner system to support our growth in 2021 and beyond
    • Successfully manage the migration to our new benefits provider


    • Contributing to the vision and strategy with an expressed focus on how initiatives will shape people and culture. As the organization’s People visionary, you will offer strategic input to shape and grow the organization
    • Modeling, managing, and leading efforts to strengthen and reinforce the values and culture of the organization in an ongoing way, including ownership in Tackle’s diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives
    • Efficiently scale our People processes in a way that leverages self-service, automation, and technology
    • Partner with the leadership team to grow from 60-120 Tacklers in 2021 and 200 Tacklers in 2022
    • Lead the oversight, design, implementation, reporting, and maintenance of the organization’s People Ops strategies and key initiatives
    • Own and manage the People team’s work streams including but not limited to employee relations, talent acquisition, employee development and benefits and compensation
    • Actively coach and develop all team members as a coach of coaches
    • Assist in building a metrics-driven department and lead the development of all People Ops reporting and analytics to support effective decision making

You are:

    • Passionate, determined leader with experience building people teams in SaaS startups
    • Have significant experience supporting Executives in People related areas such as recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee engagement and retention, talent management, policy interpretation or development, organizational design, diversity and inclusion, learning and development, and HR technology stacks
    • You are passionate about remote work and growing a remote only company
    • Have expertise within the  B2B SaaS/Cloud/Software industry
    • Track record of developing and managing internal people programs, policies, and process for scale in a high growth company
    • Embrace technology as an enabler to help you get your job done and are able to collaborate in a culture that promotes passion in technology
    • Have a demonstrated capability to lead teams and lead cross-functionally with experience managing execution of large-scale HR programs
    • Have high integrity and discretion. People data is some of our most sensitive data, and we expect employees with access to this to act with utmost professionalism

Bonus Skills:

    • 10+ years of experience in People Leadership
    • Professional human capital related certification a plus (i.e. PHR/SPHR)
    • You love collaboration tools like Google suite, Zoom, and Slack and feel at home operating in a company driven by such technology
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a deep ability to understand what motivates others
    • Have coaching or facilitation expertise or certification
    • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize actions
    • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to juggle several projects with a spirit of flexibility and positive outlook
    • Have the ability to (and enjoy!) establishing, fostering, and maintaining strong relationships across the organization at all levels, in a fully remote and dispersed environment
    • Have an orientation towards team success over individual success and an ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
    • Comfortable charting your path to arrive at the goal
