Airship is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will:

Airship is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will:

    • Work closely with worldwide sales and customer success teams to negotiate customer contracts and related agreements including data processing addenda
    • Collaborate with sales and customer success teams to identify ways to streamline customer negotiations and implement playbooks to proactively address customer questions and needs, particularly in the areas of data security and privacy
    • Maintain and regularly update critical terms and policies including privacy policy, terms of service, acceptable use policy, data retention policy, and other documentation developed to support the services offered by Airship
    • Work with Senior Contracts Manager to create and implement policies and procedures for training teams on best practices for contract management and administration
    • Develop and maintain expertise in the areas of data privacy and security and serve as in-house resource to collaborate on white papers, case studies, and other informational materials
    • Serve as member of privacy-by-design committee and help shape continuous improvement of data security and privacy initiatives
    • Support other general corporate legal matters as needed

Required Skills and Experience:

    • JD from top law school and actively licensed to practice in at least one jurisdiction
    • 5+ years of experience, including substantial experience negotiating enterprise software and SaaS agreements, software licensing, strategic partnerships and alliances, and other related commercial agreements.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of data privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and emerging privacy laws in other jurisdictions
    • Corporate generalist experience across other key functional areas including commercial contracts, IP protection and enforcement, licensing, and general corporate governance matters
    • Ability to distill complex legal issues to easily understandable business terms to facilitate problem solving in customer negotiations
    • Strong desire to collaborate cross-functionally and be recognized as a valued member of the broader business team
    • A “can-do” attitude that seeks solutions rather than presenting obstacles
    • Willingness to work across time zones in an environment where flexibility and resourcefulness are valued and rewarded
