Overview

Column is looking to hire a full-time Controller to join our Finance & Revenue Operations team. The Controller will report directly to our Finance and Revenue Operations Lead and should be jazzed about being the first accounting hire at a growth stage tech startup. As the Controller, you will be responsible for developing a 360-degree understanding of the business and how it is represented on our books as well as owning all core accounting processes and building transaction-based revenue systems that scale.
Target Start date will be October or November
What You’ll Do

  • First Week: You will learn about Column’s mission and vision, seek to understand our existing finance and revenue processes, and begin meeting other folks on the team. We’re a small company that’s growing quickly, so interpersonal rapport is essential.
  • First Month: You will conduct a comprehensive review of our existing financial procedures and build out an accounting road map to address gaps and optimize current processes. You will take ownership of the full accounts receivable process, including invoice preparation, collections, and A/R maintenance.
  • First Six Months: You will own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate, GAAP compliant accounting. You will set accounting policies and procedures and provide guidance on technical accounting. You will assist in annual audits, taxes, and other aspects of compliance.
  • First Year: You will work with our sales and engineering teams to evolve our reporting to match product changes and new methods of selling our solutions. You will own and prepare accounting processes for scale, from automation and financial integrations to internal processes and controls. You will be an impactful early finance hire at a rapidly growing tech start-up that believes we have the potential to be a once in a generation company.
