As a Mechanical Design Engineer within MEPPI’s Critical Power Solutions Division, you’ll play a key role in developing precision-engineered cooling technologies that support the demanding environments of data centers and mission-critical IT infrastructure. You’ll design and support cutting-edge HVAC systems that ensure uptime, reliability, and energy efficiency—critical to the performance of global technology operations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Engineer advanced cooling solutions specifically tailored for high-density data center and IT environments.
- Develop detailed technical documentation including engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and instruction manuals to support product lifecycle—from concept to field service.
- Evaluate test data and validate product performance to meet or exceed ASHRAE and industry standards.
- Support proposal development with technical insights that help win new business in the fast-growing data center sector.
- Operate and assist in the development of product testing labs focused on thermal management innovation.
- Troubleshoot customer challenges by providing expert-level support for real-world system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine designs, reduce costs, and accelerate time to market.
- Lead new product design, test, and prototyping initiatives that push the boundaries of cooling efficiency.
- Interface with vendors and supply chain partners to resolve design and production challenges efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with UL, Intertek, and other regulatory agencies by preparing documentation and coordinating inspections.
- Travel to customer sites, vendor locations, or industry trade shows to deliver hands-on product support and represent CPSD technology.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3–5 years of experience in cooling systems—preferably in the data center or mission-critical infrastructure space.
- Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of thermal systems and cooling standards (ASHRAE), with a passion for driving innovation in high-availability environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in technical drawing, CAD tools, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and engineering analysis. Fluent in Microsoft Office tools.
- Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues across all stages of product development.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers with clarity and professionalism.
- Project Leadership: Track record of managing multiple design and development projects with speed, accuracy, and innovation.
- Team Mindset: Collaborative spirit with a drive to contribute to a high-performing engineering team.
