You will lead a team of talented engineers that build and maintain user facing products for our core membership experiences. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of building and mentoring high-end engineering teams, and are excited to build world-class, high scale products.

Where you can make an impact: 

  • Lead a team of talented engineers and collaborate closely with a product partner to deliver services that support all of NerdWallet’s products.
  • Manage engineers career paths and performance.
  • Manage the development cycle for multiple software projects.
  • Coordinate and guide architecture decisions with other engineering teams.
  • Set high standards and drive best engineering practices for your team.
  • Maintain and improve operational excellence of services (monitoring, SLAs, post-mortems, etc.).

You are: 

  • A hands on leader: You are an effective people manager that enjoys collaborating and mentoring a team of talented engineers.
  • An effective communicator: You are able to work effectively with others. You will be working closely with developers and product groups to build features and high quality scalable products.
  • A high-energy, company-first leader with a positive attitude: Must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment.

Your experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years managing software development teams.
  • At least two years of professional experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineers.
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication with excellent interpersonal skills.


  • This role will be based in San Francisco, CA or remote (based in the U.S.).
