Hi, I’m Lacey Head of Public Relations at Customer.io 👋  I’m looking for someone with SaaS media relations experience to join my team.

This is a very exciting time to join Customer.io. Over the past two years, we’ve doubled in growth and are expecting to continue that growth this year—awesome things ahead! We recently surpassed $30m in ARR (annual recurring revenue) and we’re just getting started. Up until now, we have not focused on our PR efforts, and we want your help to change that.

People who know and use Customer.io love us, but we want to reach further than that. We have a great story to tell and need your help increasing our exposure externally.

What you’ll do:

  • Raise awareness and drive top-tier media coverage that elevates Customer.io’s brand.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with journalists and editors at relevant top-tier business and technology outlets such as TechCrunch, Forbes, Wired, BI, WSJ, etc.
  • Identify new partnership opportunities—always on the lookout for new websites, podcasts, social accounts, etc we should be working with.
  • Field press inquiries and assist in arranging interview and feature opportunities for the company and its employees.
  • Partner closely with the Communications Manager to identify and create content for press releases and blog posts on trending industry topics.
  • Develop and manage internal thought leaders and provide necessary media training for interviews and speaking opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a media landscape analysis to better understand our positioning compared to our competitors.
  • Use our media monitoring tool to track earned media coverage and create reports.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with executing a media relations strategy for a Martech or SaaS technology company.
  • Someone who is familiar with our industry and has established relationships with national mainstream and business media outlets, especially those that cover SaaS tech.
  • Ability to write clear and compelling pitch letters. You’ve cracked the code on how to be persistent in a way that reaches journalists and gets their attention.
  • A passion for following the latest news trends.
  • A team player who is energetic and enthusiastic.

About Customer.io

Our mission at Customer.io is to power automated communication that people like to receive. Today over 3,800 internet businesses use Customer.io to manage, send, and track performance of email, SMS, and push notifications. Unlike typical marketing platforms, Customer.io helps businesses increase relevance by using behavioral data: what people do or don’t do when logged in to a web or mobile app.

We are offering a starting salary of $85,000 to $110,000 USD depending on experience and subject to market rate.

  • Learning + development – Up to $2,000 USD reimbursement per year to use on conferences, books, classes, or workshops – anything that will help you develop your skills
  • 1 month paid sabbatical after four years at Customer.io – to treat yourself to a vacation, or spend however you choose
  • Company retreats twice a year – we typically get together IRL every spring and fall, and are planning for our Fall 2022 retreat!
  • Flexible schedule, work anywhere you want! – as long as you have a reliable internet connection and some overlapping work time with your manager, you can work where and when you want
