Babylist is looking for an entrepreneurial general manager to incubate and grow new businesses. Over the past 10 years, we have built a profitable and fast-growing registry. This role will be responsible for the strategy and execution of a new business beyond the registry. This is a first-time hire who will manage the strategy and roadmap to achieve product-market fit. From there, they will own the team and P&L to grow the business. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, has experience launching consumer products or digital experiences, and has a deep understanding of marketing, commerce, content and product management. You’ll report to the CEO.

Who You Are

  • You’re an entrepreneur. You’ve built products and businesses from scratch and found product-market fit
  • You’re skilled at the art and science of business. You can build a brand, understand user needs, create conceptual financial models, and have technical conversations
  • You’ve worked closely with marketing and product management teams, ideally having managed some or all of those teams
  • You’re a strategic leader. You can set a strategy and gain buy-in from a board, executives, and a cross-functional team
  • You work smart and fast. You’re adept at prioritizing, setting milestones, and testing and learning
  • You’ve managed a P&L and have exceeded revenue and growth goals
  • You’re a strong and strategic writer who can communicate ideas effectively

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll understand our company strategy and vision and develop a short and long term plan for growing a new business
  • You’ll own a cross-functional roadmap and manage a nimble, cross-functional team
  • You’ll be scrappy, diving in to write copy, send emails, create projections, and/or talk to users
  • You’ll move fast to maximize learning and prove traction
  • You’ll create a new business in the family and baby category
  • You’ll ensure internal partners are updated on key strategic priorities, tactics, and testing results

What You’ve Done

  • You’ve launched your own company and/or started a business or product within another company
  • You have 10+ years experience leading teams and managing projects
  • You’ve implemented a new strategy that has led to direct business results
  • You’ve done user interviews and customer and industry research
  • You’ve been a scrappy but thorough project and product manager
