About the Position
Wirecutter is looking for a Product Manager to help shape Wirecutter’s mobile strategy and user experience. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be at the center of new product development, understand evolving reader behavior, and have the chance to foster deeper relationships with our existing readership and develop new audiences.
You will partner with the Design, Research, and Engineering leads on the team to identify the core strategy for Wirecutter on mobile, and then create an approach to build for key opportunities.
You are fluent in human-centered design thinking and research, empathetic in understanding reader needs, quick to understand opportunity and trade-offs, and creative in crafting and testing hypotheses. You will report to Wirecutter’s Director of Product Management.
Operate independently on a small team, co-leading a product research process from discovery through to initial delivery.
Work with digital leadership to establish the product vision for Wirecutter on mobile
Partner with data and analytics to understand reader behavior, patterns, and potential opportunities for impact
Use quantitative data and qualitative research to Identify new opportunities, and run experiments to validate hypotheses
Collaborate on prototypes to validate design concepts
Communicate the team’s plans, progress, and successes with the wider digital group and broader company
Establish a creative process and culture that knows when to explore broadly and when to sweat the details
Establish and foster a healthy culture of curiosity, experimentation, collaboration and inclusiveness across all disciplines on a brand new team
4+ years of product management experience with experience in mobile strategy, media, and consumer and subscription products
Experience with deep qualitative user research and practice applying insights to tests and features
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A great listener who loves giving and receiving honest, thoughtful feedback
The ability to balance longer term planning with getting features out the door
Grasp of the engineering challenges and primary technologies that support a media business
