Product Owner Responsibilities

  • Organize, prioritize and assess work for the scrum team
  • Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Utilize data, analysis, and user feedback to make decisions and influence others
  • Groom and prioritize backlog
  • Develop user stories and define acceptance criteria
  • Plan releases and upgrades
  • Follow progress of work and address production issues during sprints
  • Participate in Agile execution ceremonies with the engineering team: sprint planning, story refinement, daily stand up, sprint review, and retrospective
  • Act as the main point of contact between teams and stakeholders
  • Track and report on product Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Work closely with Product Management colleagues to ensure alignment
  • Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Assist the scrum/product development team to meet the objectives of each sprint

Product Owner Requirements

  • Previous work experience as a Product Owner or similar role in product management
  • Proven experience creating effective business requirements and user stories
  • Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
  • Technical background with knowledge of software development and SaaS technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively and actively communicate with both business and technical stakeholders and resources
  • Comfort with ambiguity; demonstrated track record of developing solutions to problems
  • Ability to earn the trust of customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar field
