POSITION SUMMARY:

MEPPI’s Substation Division (SSD) is looking for a Project Management Department Manager to lead the project management, procurement, and EPC activities of orders for the Substation Division. In addition, the successful candidate will direct and oversee activities of project personnel including contract negotiation, strategic procurement, engineering, manufacturing, project scheduling, site safety, site construction, and project quality..

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement project guidelines and processes to ensure project quality, accurate forecasting, accurate financial reporting, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead procurement efforts to increase supplier diversity, maintain a current supplier database, and to optimize supplier performance for pricing, delivery, quality, and contract compliance.
  • Monitor and drive development, usage, and improvement of purchasing performance metrics.
  • Provide input for project bids across all product lines.
  • Leverage enterprise systems for developing project plans to specify goals, strategy, staff, schedules, consistent project reporting, capturing lessons learned, and providing a template to enable continuous improvement.
  • Define and enforce project management guidelines with respect to change management and contract support.
  • Drive innovative solutions to increase efficiency, create scalability of processes, improve manpower planning, and to enable preparation and management of operating budget.
  • Lead recurring project review meetings with entire staff to assess project status, forecast accuracy, resource allocation, opportunities, and risks.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a project management training program.
  • Manage and direct staff according to Company policies and procedures. Develop employees by training, cross training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering with a minimum of 15 years of turnkey project management and construction-related experience and a minimum of 5 years management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract negotiation methods and tools.
  • Advanced verbal, written and communication skills required to work with employees, vendors, and customers in a technical environment.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate in a team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Supply Change Management (SCM) systems.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time as required.
