Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform and lead in management of the interconnection queue and associated projects.  Lead project management activities for transmission and distribution (T&D) consulting initiatives. Identify, track, and support T&D infrastructure development from early phases through implementation

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as primary customer contact for PSED projects, capital projects, and interconnection queue management. Collaborate with customers to identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and required tasks.
  • Lead in resolution of commercial and technical issues for EROs, developers, public and investor-owned utility planning, and other relevant organizations.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project plans specifying goals, scheduling, resource allocation, risk identification and contingency plans with developers, financers, and key stakeholders of renewable energy, inverter-based resources, non-wires alternatives, and other forms of transmission and generation resources through all relevant project phases. Ensure customer commitments are met and project costs remain within budget.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders involved in interconnection queue and/or project management from initial kick-off meeting to signing of the interconnection agreement. Document and report project milestones, quality requirements, scheduling requirements and meeting needs. Perform project follow-up activities as required.
  • Manage, lead, and further projects to ensure completion within specified schedules and budgets. Identify, track, and expedite resolutions to project delays and problems.
  • Develop, manage, and further project plans specifying goals, strategy, budget, schedule, and resource assignment. Independently prepare, review, and increase effectiveness of project activity reports and communicate to stakeholders.
  • Organize and manage proposal activities in response to customer specifications, RFPs / RFQs, and information requests. Lead offerings and presentations in various markets.
  • Lead activities for, and direct others in the use of, relevant tools, including CRM, ERP, and project management systems and software. Support forecasting, resources, and workflow.
  • Provide feedback to support and improve quality and delivery workflows. Support root cause investigations.
  • Train and mentor others on project and interconnection queue management in existing and new areas.
  • Lead in the continued formation of effective practices, capabilities and tools.
  • Lead the development of papers and articles for publication in professional society journals and trade magazines, and for presentation at professional society meetings, industry conferences, and trade exhibitions.
  • Recommend new and revised policies and procedures.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of PSED through interaction with other MEPPI departments and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent discipline with a minimum 7 years of experience with power systems and project management, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of EROs, developers, and public and investor-owned utility business planning flow as related to initial feasibility, planning, engineering, implementation, and operations stages.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and resource/capacity/strategy assessment.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards and guides (FERC, NERC, and related societies).
  • Intermediate knowledge of asset and operations management, environmental policy and system hardening.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electric utility system interconnection/planning.
  • Advanced organization, presentation, communication and technical writing skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products, project management tools, and ERP/CRM systems.
