We are looking for experienced software engineers to join the Search Edge team. The Search Edge is built on top of Apache Traffic Server and proxies all traffic in and out of Yahoo’s search properties. This critical piece of the Yahoo Search infrastructure handles millions of requests daily and provides key functionality including abuse protection and privacy compliance.
- Design and build reliable, scalable and performant solutions to support Search business goals.
- Explore new technologies, stay on top of industry trends and drive platform innovation.
- Analyze traffic patterns and identify ways to improve system reliability and prevent abuse.
- Troubleshoot operability issues and provide rapid solutions to mitigate impact.
- Represent search edge in technical forums and collaborate with technical leaders across the company.
- 5+ years of experience developing high performance software for large scale business-critical applications.
- Expertise in C++. (Experience with Rust and Go is also a plus.)
- Experience with Apache Traffic Server or Nginx.
- Strong understanding of TCP-based network protocols including HTTP/2 and gRPC.
- Expertise in Linux/UNIX including system-level debugging and performance optimization.
- BS or MS in Computer Science is preferred but not required.

The compensation for this position ranges from $117,000.00 – $243,125.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
