Overview:

We are looking for a Lead for our 24-7 On Call Site Reliability Engineering team, someone with a passion for solving problems to join our SaaS Operations team. You’ll be an integral part of the team from day one by partnering with experienced engineers to optimize and maintain our infrastructure as well as implement innovative technologies and solutions that improve our ability to serve our customers with 99.9% uptime.

Primary Responsibilities

At Jama Software, a Site Reliability Engineering Team Lead is an upbeat leader of our 24-7 SRE team. In this role, you will:

  • Build and develop a team of distributed on call SREs who support our application 24-7
  • Provide guidance, and mentorship to your team
  • Provide regular, direct feedback and career development coaching to each of your team members
  • Be an active member of the team; issue resolution and improvements should account for 50% of your time
  • Lead incident management including tactical resolution (communication, service restoration, RCA, etc.) and strategic improvements to ensure minimal disruption to services
  • Collaborate with Development, Support, Sales, and Dev Ops to provide infrastructure support to internal customers
  • Use monitoring tools to proactively identify cloud infrastructure issues and resolve them
  • Develop and promote procedures and runbooks to operationalize findings from incidents and development projects
  • Ensure that existing SRE knowledge base articles are accurate and discoverable
  • Partner with project SREs and multi-functional engineering teams to complete infrastructure improvements by using your team’s expertise
  • Proactively and clearly communicate technical solutions and RCAs to internal and external customers

Qualifications

  • 2+ years technical leadership experience
  • 5+ years Linux systems administration and/or SRE experience
  • Strong network fundamentals including TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, SMTP, HTTP(S)
  • Scripting and automation experience (Python, Bash)
  • Understanding of network and web application monitoring tools (Datadog preferred)
  • Familiarity with DBMS (MySQL, MS SQL, Postgres, RDS)
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience maintaining and optimizing AWS Cloud infrastructure
