Job Description

The New York Times is looking for an enthusiastic analyst to join the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team. The team manages global Policy Governance, Compliance monitoring and reporting, PCI Compliance, and system administration of our Integrated Risk Management solution. The team works across the company and in particular with Technology, Legal, Finance, Human Resources, and Data Governance. We are part of the Risk, Information Security & Compliance department and work closely with our Information Security colleagues.

As a Technology Compliance Analyst you will play a key technical role in the execution, support, and advancement of the team’s projects and capabilities. You will work closely with team members as well as independently.

As a Technology Compliance Analyst, you will:

  • Create, execute and improve reporting, automation, audits and assessments

  • Examine existing controls and procedures to identify gaps / duplication

  • Facilitate internal audits and assessments by creating/assigning tasks to owners and following through on those requests

  • Conducts assessments of IT general, privacy and security controls as it relates to the relevant regulatory requirements

  • Communicates issues with control performance to Management promptly

  • Communicates with internal/external auditors to verify control effectiveness and best practices

  • Works closely with global departments involved in IT controls related to SOX, PCI DSS, etc., such as Finance, IT Infrastructure, Internal Audit and Legal

  • Support our Integrated Risk Management solution

  • Conduct root cause analysis of problems and recommend/implement controls and enhancements

  • Assist with new projects and team workloads

  • Maintain working knowledge of compliance technology trends and best practices

 

As a Technology Compliance Analyst, you should:

  • Be highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical problem solving skills

  • Be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while working both independently and as part of a team.

  • Display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with information technology as an analyst or in a technical role

  • Strong MS Excel/Google Sheets skills for data analysis and manipulation

  • Experience with technical report writing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic programming / scripting skills for automation

  • Information Security and / or Technology Compliance experience

  • Experience with PCI DSS

  • Working knowledge of NIST CSF

  • Working knowledge with technology risk management
